I originally signed up for my college SCUBA class for two reasons: (one) I needed to fulfill a gym requirement, and (two) there was a boy I had a crush on taking it. By the next semester, the boy was long gone... but I'd discovered that breathing underwater and exploring a hidden world of fish, cephalopods, giant manta rays, and coral reefs was a much better reward.
